Past Events

Magnuson Park Gallery - Sand Point Arts & Cultural Exchange

September 7 - October 14, 2023

This juried gallery show featured 23 pieces by 21 different local visual artists. It was organized around Living Artists Collective’s founding inspiration: ”support artists while they are alive; the dead ones don’t need your money”. With tones of the macabre, the inevitable passage of time, and the unapologetically human animal, the artwork selected for this show investigates topics affecting the participating artists: understanding the human condition, the purpose for existing, getting paid as an artist in an expensive city, fostering relationships, and more.

In conjunction with the show, we held several events in the space: A business structure and tax basics workshop, our annual donor event, and opening and closing receptions.

Jury Favorites:

1st: “Everything is Temporary” by Dawn Hubbard, $200 award.

2nd: “El Caribe (in)visible / The (In)visible Caribbean” by Jo Cosme, $150 award.

3rd: “Good Enough” by Dinah J, $100 award.

People’s Choice ($100 each award):

Would love to own: “Same T-Shirt” by Raili Jänese

Most impactful: “Churito” by Nico Inzerella

Most interesting: “Untitled (The Whole World is Watching, We Must Be Nothing Less Than Fabulous)” by Scott Coffey

‘you are not alone’ - LAC at Slip Gallery

Belltown, Seattle

April 1-29, 2023

Living Artists Collective curated a group art show at Slip Gallery in Belltown around the theme “you are not alone.” Some included artworks have a singular focus, emphasizing the piece’s individuality or alone-ness. Some evoke a feeling of community or what it means to be supported. The united pieces together explored what was created when all these individual works united in conversation.

Throughout the month the space hosted artist talks, networking event, art therapy workshop, the Belltown Artwalk, plus gallery hours Wed-Sun each week. Check out the full month recap with photos on our blog.
